A system is more than software, data and hardware – it represents a virtual ecosystem, one that more often than not exists within larger ecosystems and may be dependent upon external relationships. Performance and expectations of success with system development, integration and management thus exists at multiple levels. A system may function perfectly within its own narrow context, yet completely fail to support its intended mission due to an inability to reconcile external influences. In our view, all of systems engineering is by nature today “systems of systems” or enterprise systems engineering. That is because we commonly support large, complex organizations that consist of many inter-related domains.

The key to Teksouth’s approach to Enterprise Systems Engineering is our ability to track and link pertinent lifecycle solution data and our ability to coordinate and manage shared solution knowledge. To help accomplish this, we employ state of the art collaboration and knowledge management tools, supported by our i-TEC process. Teksouth supports both traditional systems engineering certification paradigms (such as CMMi) and Agile approaches. It has been our experience that not all situations are suited to one process paradigm exclusively, so we’ve developed the flexibility to use the right processes approach best suited for any individual project. This is especially important for helping clients tackle non-traditional systems engineering that encompasses many programs simultaneously or in dealing with critical proof of concepts or rapid capability implementations.
